About Me
General information on my approach to therapy, certifications, and information on my background.
BIO
A creative background.
I was born to two musician parents: my mother, a Japanese immigrant and singer-songwriter; my father, an American keyboardist. I grew up between cultural identities and raised in the Los Angeles recording industry, shaped by the complex mix of artistic freedom and high expectations.
Artistry gave me a place to be myself. It also taught me, later on, how much life can revolve around performance, and how easily identity can get confused with the need to be exceptional.
Through therapy, I came to understand that creativity doesn’t have to be tied to performance. It can be relational. There is a transformation that happens when self-expression meets a deep, self-compassion.
If you’re navigating identity, creativity, personal challenges, or trauma, I am here to support you on your journey and in your transformation.
My Approach
My work draws from EMDR, attachment theory, depth psychology, and multicultural therapy.
EMDR
EMDR helps the nervous system process traumatic experiences, overwhelm, and difficult feelings, so that you can find attunement with yourself in the present moment. EMDR is adaptive to help you processe complex trauma and dissociative experiences.
Multicultural therapy
Focus on your cultural identity, intergenerational experiences, and the impact of systemic oppression on your mind and body. Explore internalized culturally inherited emotions like shame and pride that often go unspoken in traditional therapy spaces.
Attachment theory
Explore how early relationships shape your sense of safety, connection, and emotional regulation. In session, we work to create relational experiences that feel secure, present, and empowering.
Depth psychology
Dream work and active imagination all the freedom to navigate creative expression during session. If you’re curious about the meanings to symbols and imagery in your life, this is explorable. Support more of your authentic self-expression and personal transformation.
Why I became a Therapist
Compassion, Creativity, and Self-Discovery
Listening has always been an intentional process for me—whether with family, friends, or in my own artistic craft, listening became a way to hear the nuances and detail of a story. Over time, I realized that the same care we give others is needed for ourselves: listening to yourself requires radical, self-compassion.
In a culture that often rewards perfectionism and masks vulnerability, creative living becomes a powerful way to claim your authenticity and find joy.
COnsultation
If you’re unsure whether therapy is right for you, I offer a free, 15-minute consultation call.
Even a 15-minute conversation can make a real difference. It’s a chance to share what’s on your mind, gain new perspectives, and explore your options. Speaking with a prospective therapist can take the guesswork out of this process, and help you feel more confident about next steps..
I specialize in working with:
Creatives feeling blocked or overwhelmed.
People who are navigating the effects of trauma.
Neurodivergence and identity concerns.
People searching for meaning and clarity in life.
In my free time…
I enjoy journaling, running with a favorite playlist, and unwinding with a good movie. I love exploring local coffee shops, taking long walks, and sometimes sparking conversations with strangers.
I still play the violin regularly, and enjoy the challenges of learning new music.
